Purchased An Older Home And Now Getting Bites On Your Body? 2 Types Of Insects You Should Look For
If you purchased an older home and are now getting bites on your body, then there is some type of insect in the home doing this to you. Below are two types of insects that will bite humans so you can determine the type you have so you can get rid of them.
Bed Bugs
If you see bites on your legs when you get up in the mornings, you very well may have bed bugs. Bed bugs can be difficult to remove so you need to find out if this is what is causing the bites.
Bed bugs like to hide in the mattress in different areas. You will generally find them in the crease around the mattress. Strip the bed completely and use a magnifying glass to inspect the creases. If you have bed bugs you will see dark spots and you may also see through small bodies of the insects. These are from when there are babies and they shed their skin when they grow large enough. If you see these signs, then remove the mattress and look at the box springs too. If the bedroom is infested with bed bugs you will also maybe have them in other areas, such as in your drawers, curtains, and more. Call a bed bug exterminator to take care of the problem.
Fleas
If the previous owner had any type of animals in their house the home could have fleas. If so, fleas can get anywhere as they are really tiny. If you have a dog or cat inside your home, then they will definitely have fleas. If so, check them first and you could easily see if they have fleas on their body.
If you do not have any animals, it can be difficult to see fleas. You can tell, however, by the types of bites you have on your body. You will likely have most bites on your ankles and lower legs and the bites will be small and red itchy bumps. If you scratch at these bumps and break any open this can lead to infection. There are some people that are also allergic to flea bites.
If you cannot determine the type of insect or insects you have in your home, contact a pest control company. They can inspect your home to find out the type you have and then spray your home to kill the insects. The pest control company may need to come back and spray more than once in order to get rid of all insects.
