4 Signs There Are Pests In Your Home

The last thing you want to deal with is pests in your home. Unfortunately, pests may try to infiltrate your home at any time of year. Pest control services are able to help eradicate any unwanted pests from your home. You should be knowledgeable about the signs that there are pests in your home so you know when to contact pest control services. Here are four signs that there are pests in your home.

Damaged plants

Many different species of pests will damage any plants you have indoors. Whether you have a potted leaf plant or a bouquet of flowers, an indoor plant is an inviting oasis to pests. Pests will try to make a meal out of your plants by taking bites out of the leaves or flowers. They may also try to reach the water in the pot as well. Keep an eye out for signs of damage or ant trails with indoor plants.

Droppings

One of the signature warning signs of a pest infestation is droppings. Rodents and bugs tend to leave trails of urine and feces in their wake. There may or may not be a foul odor accompanying their droppings as well. Their droppings will also tend to cluster around places they are inhabiting the most, such as shady, quiet places where you may not look at first. Make note of where you observe droppings; this will help pest control services to concentrate their efforts on highly affected areas.

Grease tracks

Along with shelter, pests are always on the lookout for food. Mice and rats may leave grease tracks originating in the kitchen and spreading outward. They may track grease with their feet or leave trails with their tails. Rats in particular may leave these trails along the walls, and provide important hints about where they are hiding.

Evidence of nesting

A pest's first priority will be to create a cozy space in your home. Pests will begin to seek out nesting materials in order to achieve their goal. Bits of wood, plaster, siding, and paper products are preferred nesting materials for many types of pests. You may notice damage to these materials throughout your home and trails of them leading to dark, cool areas where the pests have begun to build their nest. If there is evidence of nesting, then you will want to call pest control services before the pests begin to procreate.
