What You Can Do If Your Home Is Overrun With Rodents

If you have a lot of rodents in your home, it's most likely infested. The best thing you can do is leave your house and have a pest control company come into your home to get rid of these pests. Living with these pests can allow the spread of disease and can also spread bacteria, which can lead to illness. If you have a rodent problem, but leaving your home isn't an option, you need to take immediate action to get rid of the infestation. This is going to take a lot of hard work on your part, but you are also going to need the help of a pest control company. Read on for helpful tips.

Look And Listen

If you aren't sure where they are located in your home, where they are going or where they are coming from, you need to do some investigating. Take some time to look and to listen, but do so quietly so you aren't scaring them off. Do this at night when the rodents are most active in your home. If this isn't possible, try using a camera to record their activity to help you get a better look at what you are dealing with. You can also take a close look at the droppings left behind by the rodents and get an idea of where they are going and where they have been as well.

Find The Nest

Once you have some idea of where they are coming from in your home, and where they are going, look around for their nest. It may look like a bunch of paper or a lot of lint piled up. The nest may contain baby rodents, or it may be empty. Start setting traps where you have seen the rodents scurrying, and near the nest as well. Set the traps with bait of something they have been eating to better attract them.

Find Holes And Repair Them

After watching the rodents, you can also see if they have been coming in and out of your home at all. If you see any holes in your house, make the repairs to prevent them from coming into your house any longer. You'll also contain those still in your house, which is why it's essential to set traps and catch those still in your home. Set the traps, remove the deceased rodents and set the traps again.

If your home is overrun with rodents and vacating the premises is not an option, call a pest control company for help, like those at Velocity Rodent/Wildlife Control and other locations, and do what you can to get rid of these pests as well.
