Flies Making You And Your Family Crazy? What You Can Do

Flies can make you absolutely crazy, especially when they're buzzing around your head, face, food, pets, and just about everywhere else. Flies come in a lot of different sizes. If you have them in your house, you most likely have fruit flies or house flies, although outside, you may have issues with horse-flies and deer flies. Horse and deer flies both are biting flies and aren't typically found indoors. If you are having issues with house flies or fruit flies inside your home, there are a few things you can do that will help to control them. Read on for helpful tips.

House Flies

House flies are usually abundant during the warmer weather months. They are usually brought inside when you open the door to come and go. These flies can survive in your house for a long time, you may even find one or two holding on strong in winter months as well. Flies can be a pain and can even end up multiplying inside your house. House flies can be killed with a fly swatter, or even a rolled-up magazine will do fine, but preventing them in the first place will help keep them from coming in. Prevent the flies from coming in by putting away garbage and keeping a lid on your garbage cans. Keep the cans away from your house. If you have pets, be sure you clean up after them properly and pick up any feces in your yard, as flies are going to be attracted to the piles.

Fruit Flies

Fruit flies are a major nuisance; they buzz around your face while you're trying to eat a meal or can be found hovering around your fruits and vegetables on your counter. They may also be buzzing around the drains in your house or just about everywhere. Fruit flies can be difficult to get rid of once you begin to see them. These flies can be abundant in your home no matter the time of the year. They often appear and then nest inside the drains of your house in the debris that is clogged inside your drain. They will feed off of the fruits and vegetables you have laying on your counter and also on the garbage in the can. Fruit flies can be killed by pouring bleach, boiling water, or white vinegar and baking soda down your drains. Pour around the edges of your drain to help get rid of any gunk in the drain that the flies are nesting in. Keep all fruits and vegetables off of your counter for a while until you can get rid of these pests, and keep a lid on your garbage can to keep it sealed.

Flies of any type can be a nuisance, especially when they are in your home. If you have an issue with these pests and aren't able to get rid of them, hire a pest control company for help.
