Raccoons Bothering You And Your Pets? What You Should Do To Get Rid Of Them

Raccoons won't usually bother humans, but they can still be a bother in other ways, as they are quite a nuisance. They will get into your trash and litter your yard, the street, and other surrounding areas with the contents of the trash. If you have raccoons, they will become even more of a nuisance if you don't do something to get rid of them. If you have raccoons that are becoming a bother to you, there are things you may be able to do to get rid of them. Read on for helpful tips.

Cover Trash Properly

Make sure your trash is covered properly and has a lid that seals tightly so raccoons cannot open the lid or cannot push it over and get inside. Make sure you keep your trash sealed in bags as well to keep odors down and so you don't attract pests such as raccoons to your yard. Be sure your trash is contained in the trash receptacles and not just sitting next to the trash can in the bags, as these will attract raccoons

Keep Pet Food In Sealed Containers

If you have pet food kept outside, make sure it is kept in a container that is sealed, and not just out in the open. If you have outdoor pets, be sure you clean up any food that is left outside and isn't out for any pests to take for themselves. If you have other food that is kept outside, be sure it is sealed properly so as to not attract pests such as raccoons.

Clear Away Clutter

Clutter such as leftover woodpiles or landscape debris piles should be cleaned up. These can be spaces that raccoons may use for nesting for their family. Their babies may be in these areas and they may be using them as their dens. If you have debris piles in your yard, be sure to clear them away and clean up your yard to prevent giving these and other pests a place to nest.

If you have raccoons that are bothering you or your pets, you'll need to do what you can to help get rid of them and to keep them away. If you are unable to get rid of them, hire a residential wildlife removal company to help you get rid of these pests for you to prevent them from doing any further destruction to your home or becoming more of a nuisance.
