2 Insects That May Invade Your Home

If you own a home, there are many insects that may invade it. Below are two of these insects so you can watch out for them. Taking care of the problem quickly is important since your home can become infested quickly with some insects. To do this, you should hire a pest control company.

Ants

Ants are common in homes and will come into a home at any time of the year. They often seek shelter during the cold weather, during the hot summer months, and when they become hungry. You may notice thousands of ants crawling around your home in certain areas. You will mostly see them where food is stored and where there is water near. One room that can provide both of these to them is the kitchen.

You can try ant baits yourself to kill the ants, which you can purchase at home improvement stores. These generally work well and kill the ants quickly. Another thing that works well without using any chemicals is using baby powder. Ants cannot breathe when walking through powder, so they will not cross it. Spread baby powder around baseboards or where you see ants coming in. This will not kill the ants but will prevent them from coming into your home. Store food in tight containers, including dog and cat food, as ants will also eat these things. Sweep your floor each night and wipe down counters to remove food crumbs.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches are nocturnal, so you mostly see them at night. You may wake up in the middle of the night turn on your kitchen light and see them crawling around on your countertops, floor, etc. Cockroaches will multiply quickly, and your home can become infested before you know it.

There are things you can try yourself to kill cockroaches. One way is to use boric acid powder mixed with sugar. Put these ingredients into a few small bowls and set them in different areas of your kitchen. The cockroaches are drawn to the sugar, and when they eat it, they will also ingest the boric acid and die. You will notice dead cockroaches on your countertops when you wake up. If you continue to see cockroaches, a pest control company needs to come to your home. This is important because they can get out of hand quickly.
