Tips To Prevent Spiders From Invading Your Home This Fall

Spiders are eight-legged pests that can be a bit scary for some or just a nuisance for others. Some spin webs that nobody wants to walk through, while other spiders don't spin webs at all. Some spiders can cause injury to you if you are bitten by them, while others will not bite at all, and will do what they can to keep their distance. No matter what type of spiders you have in your home, you more than likely do not want them there at all. If you have an issue with these pests in the fall months, there are a few things you may be able to do to help get control of this pest issue. Read on for some helpful tips.

Clear Out Clutter

Spiders prefer areas where there is a lot of clutter around for them to hide and remain unnoticed. They are trying to keep to themselves, but they could still be present, and you still do not want them in your home. This is why you need to remove the clutter from around your home. Remove piles from the floor and put your belongings away where they belong. Toss anything that you do not want or need rather than piling it in one location for spiders to use to nest. Clutter just outside of your home should also be removed from your home. Spiders may be nesting here until they need to find warmth inside your home, so clear out clutter from outside your home as well. This means removing wood piles and other landscape piles from around your home.

Sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth

Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the perimeter of the inside of your home where you would most likely see spiders. Sprinkle it in your basement and in your crawl space where you may see the most signs of spiders. You can also sprinkle this natural pesticide around other rooms of your home if need be as well. This pesticide will dehydrate these pests and cause them to die. 

Seal Your Home

You should seal your home against these and other pests. Seal around your windows and doors where these pests can get into your home easily. Replace your window and door seals if they are dry rotten or cracked or missing to help prevent pests from easily making their way indoors. You should also caulk around your window and door trim, both inside and outside of your home.
